Management System Auditing

Audits performed of contractor or sub-contractor Health, Safety & Environmental Management Systems to OGP standards or to OHSAS-18001:2007, by a qualified Lead Auditor.  For comparison purposes download the OHSAS-18001:2007 OGP 210/432 gap analysis.  The OGP standards utilized are:

  1. OGP 210 “Guidelines for the Development and Application of Health, Safety and Environmental Management Systems” 1994 (currently under revision);
  2. OGP 432 “Managing HSE in a geophysical contract” 2009;
  3. OGP 423 “HSE management – guidelines for working together in a contract environment” 2010; and
  4. OGP 365 “Land transportation safety recommended practice” 2005

For the geophysical industry, audits are also performed to the requirements OGP 245 “Guidelines for HSE Auditing in the Geophysical Industry” 1996.

HazID & Risk Assessment Facilitation

Skilled facilitation of hazard identification and risk assessment sessions can help achieve successful risk management planning. External but knowledgeable facilitation allows all team/project members to fully contribute to the issue at hand, and not be distracted by administrative tasks.

safety culture assessments

Performing assessments identifies where the culture of a particular team or organization lies on the safety culture ladder. Even more importantly, the independently facilitated work group discussions help bring forward any safety issues in the comfort of an anonymous focus group, which can then be addressed by management.

(To view "The Safety Culture Ladder" from OGP 368: Human Factors…. a means of improving HSE performance, click here).

Development of Policies, Procedures and Practices

From individual procedures to company-wide practices for complete project management of operations, based on industry standards.

(For example OGP 423: HSE management – guidelines for working together in a contract environment 2010, click here).

Preparation of HSE Schedules for Geophysical Contracts

Development of HSE specifications for either model agreements or Invitation To Tender packages, based on industry standards.

HSE Assurance Planning & Reviews

HSE assurance strategy development, planning and assurance reviews. The process provides an independent assessment to ensure that projects are ready to safely move to the operational phase.

Implementation of Industry Standards

Consultation for companies trying to implement the three-tier OGP oil and gas industry standards, used in the geophysical sector.

Development of Competence Assurance Processes

Development of Competence Assurance Processes for personnel in positions that are considered safety or production critical, including defining the competence requirements for each position, the assessment process, and the necessary verification aspects.

Safety Leadership Coaching

Safety leadership is critical because it influences the culture of an organization. Without believable and demonstrable safety leadership at every level of supervision and management, an organization will struggle to improve its HSE performance or avoid incidents.

Sub-Contractor Management Performance Improvement

There are many facets to sub-contractor management. Sub-contractor personnel can frequently be at higher risk, as they are less supervised and often work on the periphery of an operation. Companies sometimes have more sub-contractors than they can optimally manage. Changes in sub-contractor management activities can lead to improved overall safety performance.
